January 6, 2009 - New Leadership for the Colorado Homeland Defense Alliance
The Board of Directors of the Colorado Homeland Defense Alliance appointed Mark Volcheff as Executive Director effective January 1, 2009. CHDA is a non-profit, state-wide, organization that supports the development of technologies, businesses, and human resources in the aerospace, defense, security, and first-responder industries to improve public safety and our national security. He is currently president of HLS Solutions LLC, a Colorado Springs homeland security consulting company as well as a Senior Associate partnered with The Durango Group. Mark served over 32 years in the US Air Force as a pilot, four-time commander, and most recently as the Director, Plans, Policy and Strategy for both NORAD and US Northern Command headquarters before retiring in the rank of Major General. Prior to assuming his present positions, he served as the Assistant for Federal Matters to the State of Colorado Homeland Security Coordinator. He resides in Colorado Springs with his wife Mary and children Paul and Laura.
Previous Executive Director, Duncan Stewart, who has been elected as the Chairman of the Board for CHDA, commented on the selection of General Volcheff. “We are very excited to have a leader with Mark’s extraordinary experience and energy to help take the Alliance to new heights. Our vision is to make Colorado the Silicon Valley for security and defense innovation. Mark has hit the ground running and is bringing a real sense of passion and action to our new five-year strategic plan.”
