January 5, 2010 - NORAD-NORTHCOM Academic Colloquium
The National Institute of Science, Space & Security Centers, Center for Homeland Security, announced that the NORAD-NORTHCOM Academic Colloquium will be held January 19-21, 2010. General Victor Renuart, USNORTHCOM Commander, and Mr. Paul McHale, the former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America's Security Affairs, are the expected keynote speakers. Papers will be presented from academics, policy makers, and practitioners addressing serious challenges facing USNORTHCOM including the following topics of interest:
- Mass casualty treatment capabilities, coordination, and response.
- Support requirements and functions attendant to pandemic outbreak.
- Command and control of active and reserve forces in a national public health crisis.
- Legal and ethical issues for medical response and recovery operations.
Papers will have been reviewed by selected subject matter experts from Johns Hopkins University, United States Army War College, Navall Postgraduate School, and United States Air Force Academy.
